* Try disabling "TI sync negociation" on the DCAS.

* The Adaptec board seems to prefer Active termination.

* Try replacing you cables with "Granite" teflon ones.

* You can can get a SCA-SCSI adapter - as a matter of fact I have 2 of
  them - $15 a pop - if you're interested.
