I had tried installing Linux on my computer which has an Ultrastor 24F
controller. Even though others with this card had no problem, I was never
able to get my system going due to frequent scsi timeout errors which
hanged the system.

Thanks to the above report, I finally have a stable Linux system after
I upgraded my BIOS and firmware chips from revisions 3 and 4 to 5 and 8
respectively. So its seems that the problem Don reported for the
Ultrastor 14F with old BIOS & f/w also applies to the Ultrastor 24F. I
think this is useful information that should be included in the SCSI-Howto.

The chips can be ordered from Ultrastor. The code is also available
by ftp... finger ustor@primenet.com for the phone number and ftp site
info.

Dan
