I just put together a dual P166MMX linux box. I know I didn't need the
MMX, but it's all I could get my hands on. I put a BusLogic BT-958 SCSI
card in the machine, with a Micropolis 4743WS hanging off of it. However,
whenever I have my kernel compiled for SMP, I get poor, if not horrid
results from the machine. With all the 2.0.3x kernel's I was unable to
correctly boot my machine, due to the fact that upon booting it would not
be able to locate my scsi drive (sda). I then attempted to compile
2.1.76, which successfully booted in SMP mode. However, upon doing
something that would cause heavy disk usage (untar'ing a kernel source)
the machine totally locked up. I have also had the SCSI card re-intialize
serveral times. Here is some information from /proc, any and all help is
much appreciated. The motherboard I'm using is a Tyan IV D.
