I remember seeing some utility on quantum's ftp site. But my
firmware is is LXY4, and it seem to be the latest. There is
something newer in TESTCODE area, but I hesitate to download test
firmware onto my production server's drive.

I've been running LKY8 (from the TESTCODE directory) in some 2GB and 4GB wide
Atlas II's here and have not seen any problems. It's certainly been more
reliable than LXY4 in my test systems. I would never download disk firmware
without doing a full backup first.

BTW, now I have Atlas attaches to the same bus with Atlas-II --
should I expect the same sort of troubles with it? Not, so far. Its
	  firmware is L912.

There were many reports of people having problems with L912 a while back. I
never ran that version myself, thankfully.
