Hi Richard,

Your mail is timely. I have an Adaptec 2940 doing the same
thing. Was ready to rip it out and replace it with a
Buslogic. Now I'm not so sure. These only occurs on my
system under high load when cron is expiring news and doing
an updatedb. I've added active termination at both ends. No
help. I read somewere the scsi cable can't be over 2 meters
and you need approx. 12" between nodes. Can someone confirm
the 12" part? My scsi cable is homemade. Can I get a source
on good quality cable from someone. Also I've assumed you
remove the passive termination when you place the active
terminators on the bus. Correct? These problems were not
showing up in kernels before 2.0.27(I think) Can the 27
aic7000 code be subsituted into the 33 kernel without
other ill effects? Some other off topic question - can you
mix wide and ultrawide drives in a raid enviorment? Is DPT
the best supported raid card with linux. Who makes a chassis
that supports hot swaps (power & drive) and we're are they
located? Is 5 drives best for raid 5 or are 3 just as
reliable? Thanks!

Regards,
Mike
