The DAC960 is an _external_ scsi-to-scsi controller. It does not need
reside in a host PC, and thus does not need to be supported by Linux, it
presents itself as a single device to the host system (which may be
running *any* supported controller), possibly with multiple LUNs
(depending on how the DAC960 is configured).
It appears as though Mylex has purchased BusLogic, although I'm not
completely sure. I wasn't sure which products were formerly Mylex's, and
which were BusLogic's.
For my purposes, external RAID is a necessity (physical requirement,
basically).
Mylex acquired BusLogic in February 1996. The FlashPoint and MultiMaster SCSI
host adapters came from BusLogic. The internal and external RAID controllers
came from Mylex.
