Try http://www.pricewatch.com/, click on disks and then scsi 2.1 and you
will be much happier than you are now.  I se that the 2.1GB Quantum (ultra
wide) is going for $279 There is an IBM 2.1GB ultra-wide going for $249.
All three are 7200 rpm.  I see the Fujitsu FUJ2954W 4.2GB UW drive for
$524.  You might prefer to go to a larger size than 2.1GB unless you want
a cheap raid (i.e. you want lots of spindles).

I don't think that you will find them worthwhile, IMHO, you should stick
with BusLogic BT-958 or Asus PCI-SC875 (i have used both, they are
reliable and fast).  I had nothing but trouble with Adaptec 2940UW and
gave up on it.
