Quantum SCSI and Fujitsu IDE Interaction

I have a P-100 system with Linux 2.0.30, Adaptec 2920 connected to a
Quantum TM 3.2 Gig disk, as well as a Fujitsu IDE disk.

When I read and write to the IDE drive by itself, everything works.
Similarly, when I read and write to the SCSI drive by itself, everything
works. When I copy many files from the SCSI drive to the IDE drive,
everything works. However, when I copy many files from the IDE drive to
the SCSI drive, I eventually get a SCSI timeout, i.e. it is only SCSI
write operations that time out, and only when reading from the IDE drive
at the same time.

If I have internal drive buffering turned on, the SCSI timeout causes
I-node corruption. If I have buffering turned off, the timeout causes no
damage to the file system.

I have downloaded the Quantum fix from dandelion.com with no change in
the behavior.
