Oops. I guess I should have posted this originally. I'm the guy who has
the problem. Here's what comes out when I boot:
Vendor: PLEXTOR Model: CD-ROM PX-4XCH Rev: 1.23

I've had one person report no problems with Rev 1.22. Anybody have a
later Rev?
