Using a DPT 2044 ultra wide controller, we set up a raid 0 between two 9
gig seagate barracudas. The previous configuration, a raid 1, worked just
fine, but, the raid 0, when attempting to mount any previously created
partition, typically resulted in multiple ext2 errors. It's as if the
translation to the drive is getting confused in some fashion resulting in
improper writes to the drive, ie, the system isn't writing to where it
thinks it is. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? I'd much rather have
the speed and space of a raid 0 over the redundancy of a raid 1.
Unfortunitally, I'm rebuilding the raid 1 now and can't get to the logs of
the errors, but usually they occured while mounting a partition
immediately after building a ext2 filesystem on a different partition on
the drive. The errors consisted of inode disreprencies, the count would
be different than the reported figure. I hope this helps if anyone has
any idea what might be going wrong.
