Hi

Could someone *please* help me with this. It's been driving me crazy for weeks!

I am trying to install Linux from CD. I have the RedHat 4.2 CD.
My CD Drive is a Toshiba XM-4101B. My SCSI adapter is a Future Domain
TMC-850MEX. It is configured at IRQ 3 and BIOS Address 0xCA00.

At first, the install program couldn't detect mt CD drive at all.
I got messages like 'scsi : 0 hosts' and '/proc/scsi/scsi not found'.

I tried specifying the IRQ and base address in the install program. It now
found the SCSI device and tried to initialise the CD-ROM.

I get messages that the CD-ROM is detected at IDs 1-7. In the SCSI HOWTO, it
says this means there is a conflict with the controler. Does this mean I need
to change the memory settings, and if so how??

I also get time-out messages. Once again the HOWTO suggests changing the
jumper settings, but to what?

Someone mentioned that IRQ 3 might be a problem as it is already in use.
I tried changing the jumper settings to IRQ 5, but it still doesn't work.
I also tried changing the BIOS address to 0xCE00 to avoid the multiple IDs,
but no luck.

Some of the other error messages I get are stuff like 'Disk change detected'
'Reading beyond end of device',...
I'm afraid I don't know much about configuring devices, so most of this is
a bit beyond me. I would be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Garry
