Right - I tried it with the stripped down autoconfig override line 
(aha152x=0x340,11) and with the termination forced to on, and I checked
the jumpers on the card (they were correct for external devices only,
which is what we have), still no joy:

scsi : 0 hosts.
scsi : detected total.

I can't think of anything else, offhand.
