A collaborator of mine had a Teles card installed by Telecom (because he
is not well experienced with PC hardware at all). Now his up to that point
stable system shows filesystem corruptions beyond repair after 3-4 days.
The stable installation he had up to this installation did that as well as
any reinstall of it from the very same CD. The other, M$, products used on
the system show no (new) problems which might not mean anything.
From my experience I'd assume that either the technicians loosened some
memory or disk related contacts or wires, or that their is a hardware
collision or incompatibility with the Teles' card and probably his
motherboard and/or (E)IDE controller.
Although it is almost prooven that it is some problem with Teles' card by
this development of the problem, the technicians will not take that but
claim that just linux is broken as they do always. So this alone does not
help him. He would actually not require linux to use the ISDN card, he
would be very happy already if linux just continued to work. He mentioned
though, that linux auto detects the Teles' card (I dunno how) from which I
claim the kernel he got from the CD has at least a driver for it.
I've no experience with PCI or ISDN cards myself. Maybe there is a known,
often occuring problem which can be fixed by him easily (like go and use
IRQ xyz, or lower whatever bus freq to abc...).
If you have a hint, enlight me. I'll be happy to forward any further
information or test results you need.
