im apologetic for send this to a fairly high powered list, yet ive not
found the answer elsewhere...

was done with fdisk from slackware with 1.2.1 on it. yes i do use later
kernels, typically 1.2.13 and getting into 2.0.xx , it was an emergency...

what does it mean when fdisk says...

warning: partition has empty type...

what i think i did was make a partition that started with cyl 1 and ended
on cyl 1... partition 1

i cant seem to get around this or make or delete partitions on a friends
quantum fireball 2.1 gig... using adaptec 1540/1542

ive tried just about everything but a newer linux fdisk or or...

thanks!
