problems with scanner driver

hi,
i've got an adaptec 1542c scsi adapter and a mustek paragon 600 ii cd
scanner.
i tried to to run the scanner with the mscan driver from
sunsite...capture, which was designed to work with the scanner model i
have.
the kernel states the following error message each time i invoke the
driver:
wrong buffer length supplied for request sense (4)
the driver states "unknown error code 8".
the scanner runs fine under windows.
maybe someone could give me a hint since i don't have the capabilities
to decipher those tons of c code yet (i know it's high time) and just
can't wait to low-level format my dos disk ;-)
