What kind of timeout? The mbxout one from aha174x or a different one (from sd.c or st.c ?)? Tapes are slow, they may easily trigger timeouts (because of that the i/o timeouts in st.c are close to infinity, but if a disk is on the same SCSI Bus and something is suboptimal with disconnection setup, a long running tape i/o may easily delay some sd disk i/o where timeouts are fairly short). Michael. (eowmob@exp-math.uni-essen.de or eowmob@pollux.exp-math.uni-essen.de Please do not use my vm or de0hrz1a accounts anymore. In case of real problems reaching me try mat42b@spi.power.uni-essen.de instead.)
