SCSI Tape Error Messages

I wrote the list about this message a couple weeks ago, and it is still
persistant in coming back, even after a kernel recompilation and machine
reboot....  This is my HP SureStore 6000 on the external channel of an
Adaptec 3940UW.  it appears to get about 30 minutes into a backup, and then
dies.  The backup is just a "tar -cvb 256 -f /dev/nst0 /xxxx" where xxxx is
a directory off the root directory.  It has worked for about 2 months now,
since we got the drive, but all of a sudden its not =/..  Could this be a
cable error?  Termination?  Anything else?
