Need help with scsi controllers

I currently have 3 different scsi controllers and was wondering which
one would be the best to use with linux.
Adaptec 1542A, WD7000, Storage Plus Controller with NCR 53C80-40 chip.
All of the controllers seem to work, but I don't have docs on any of
them. I've tried the NCR 53C80-40 card but can't get the RedHat 4.0
Installation program to autoprobe it and can't seem to figure out what
arguments to give it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, anyone who can point me to
docs (especailly(sp?) jumper settings) will be greatly appreciated.
Adaptec does'nt list them for this card.
