Do you have anything elso plugged into the 2940 internally?  If both of
the internal connectors are used, say the 68 pin on a hard drive, and the
50 pin on a cdrom drive, you cannot use the external plug.  On the 2940,
any two of the connectors may be used, but not all three.  The way the
card is designed, using all three breaks SCSI termination rules and will
not work.
