Hi again,
First of all, thanks Michael for your hints.
However, I still have problems:
Just to remind I have an ncr53c815 scsi controler board
and a HP SureStore 5000 DAT unit. The system is
now running slackware 3.1 with linux 2.0.29.
Now I get the following messages when I forward or rewind
a large number of files in the tape:
iaa36u:~# mt -f /dev/nrmt0 fsf 100
scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 2040, scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
0x0a 02 28 36 02 00
scsi0 : DANGER : command running, can not abort.
iaa36u:~# mt -f /dev/nrmt0 rewind
scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 2084, scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
0x0a 03 a7 7c 02 00
scsi0 : DANGER : command running, can not abort.
I also have a scsi hard disk that started making an unusual sound
occasionaly, since I reinstalled the system.
Can anyone give a hand? I'd love to backup my data....
Thanks,
Andre'
