Exabyte operate a mailing list which I'd suggest you post your description
of your problem to.

I don't have problems with performance (though it mostly works over the
network at the moment so..) but I can confirm that the unit takes a while
after recieving the first command before getting going.  I assume it's due
to the mechanism used, dunno.  Seems to get up to speed ok once its going,
so I write the start-up time off as overhead.

Thing that bothered me most when I first used it is you can't hear the
drive working at all.  This is a fairly noisy machine room, but I seem to
remember actually trying during a scheduled downtime once and still not
hearing it.  ;-)
