I have this kind of experience but I could solve them by the foloowing
gule
1. You should use the boot kernel that support your adapter for
example if you use "adaptech" your kernel boot disk must have the driver
of the supported kernel.
2. Check out your hard disk what kind of hard disk are you using
if it is seagate that could be a problem. Also check SCSI hrad disk or IDE
hard disk are you using.
This may be help you think of something to give us more detail.
