Ivo,
This looks exactly like 2 devices on the bus
have the same ID. This is derived from the
multiple instances of the device when being polled.
I take it that the ID has already been checked, many-times ?
The controller S/B ID 7
the Disk drive shows ID 0
the tape drive S/B 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6
IE: On the switch pack of the Exbyte 8200....
1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3
on ------- ------- -------
[ ` , , ] = 1 [ , ` , ] = 2 [ ` ` , ] = 3
------- ------- -------
And so on....
The other possibilities are ,
1) The cable or connector(s) may have a bad spot.
2) A pin on the connecter of the tape drive is folded over.
3) A pin on the connecter of any device is folded over.
PS: Exabyte 8200's ID packs are soldered to the board on
the back of the physical drive.
