It's nice to see people are working towards a more perfect file
serving solution.
A question - are there any real insurmountable reasons why eg Netware
is said to be so much faster than other systems, and similarly SMB
faster than NFS?
NFS would be my choice since I can make the clients take very little
RAM and boot image space, and since I can get all the necessary
software to (next to) nothing. My only concern in speed - though,
in our setup, we're talking about mostly slow workstations and I
wonder whether Netware doesn't spend most of its time waiting for the
workstations anyway.
Basically my question is, is there any hope in NFS getting faster?
Some options I could tweak?
