I had an unusual problem occur yesterday. All of a sudden my utmp file
has a problem. When I use the 'w' command it results in the following:

  2:26pm up 1 day, 20:52, 1 user, load average: 1.31, 1.28, 1.22
User tty from login@ idle JCPU PCPU what
_setutent: Can't open utmp file: No such file or directory

I have restored a utmp file from backup with the same results. I have
deleted the utmp file and replaced it with an empty file - same results.
I do not know what happened to cause this nor do I know what to do to fix
this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Bob
