Net/Ethernet monitoring tools

I'm curious as to what freeware ethernet monitoring tools
people are using under linux now.

I'm looking for something that shows ethernet load, protocol
mix, what MAC address are sending how many of what protocols,
etc. An X or curses interface would be nice.

I have modified the statnet program I found on sunsite to do
some of these things (well, just a scrolling graph of ether
load over time, and breaking apart tcp into higher level
protocols), but I don't want to reinvent something that already
exists. If there is nothing suitable, and there is some interest
in something like this, I will write it.

Please dont ask for code; I'm not ready to release my
changes.... yet :)
