For external (serial-port) ISDN TA's, you should be able to run pppd using
chat to set up the call. We are about to give this a shot with Motorola's
UTA220 and BitSurfr units.
Another option is to go with a TA/Router/Bridge unit such as Ascend
Communications' Pipeline50, Pipeline25, or Pipeline HX50. Plugs into the
ethernet on your linux machine and acts basically as either a router or a
bridge.
These are a little on the expensive side, though. The Pipe50 will set you
back ~$1200.
