That's exactly the configuration I have on my news server. It's a P5-90MHz
with Adaptec's AHA2842 SCSI controller, running in sync negotiation mode,
10MB/sec transfer rate. The ethernet card in the machine is an SMC Ultra.
Not a single problem. Kernel is currently 1.2.5, waiting for a convenient
middle-of-the-night time to reboot into 1.2.10. (Or a crash, whichever
comes first. Machine has never crashed, though)
Note that this machine takes a fairly significant beating, both CPU-wise
and network-wise. It is an NNTP server, with several large incoming feeds
(I accept every group that's offered me), and 50+ people reading via NNTP
at any given time.
