3c509 error message

Hello all, got a question,
my roomate recently upgraded his kernel to 2.0.0. Ever since then he has
been getting an odd error:
Waiting for 3c509 to discard packet, status 2001
now this does not seem to effect his network connection, (it works fine)
he just gets this message every so often (2-3 times an hour)
he is running Redhat 3.0.3 with their patch to upgrade to the 2.0 Kernel.
he has a 3c509 3Com card, i am not sure what else will be helpfull.
Incidently, i also am running the same RedHat, also upgraded, and have a
3c509 card with no such messages.
Any help/ideas are always appreciated, thanks.
