What I've done in the past is this. Run sendmail on the firewall. Set sendmail 
up to delete individual machine names from outgoing mail, so if your domain is 
"bogo.com", mail from joe_user@machine.bogo.com, has the return address written
as joe_user@bogo.com. Set up MX records in DNS on the firewall so that all mail
for bogo.com will be sent to it. Have a complete set of user aliases on the 
firewall set up such that all mail is delivered to an internal machine. On that
internal machine, have a set of users aliases that forward mail to the proper
destinations.
