Hi again,
at first many thanks for your usefull hints.
The problem I was fighting with was to send data with ftp/TCP
over an serial line PPP link. Errors occured with files > 2 kbyte.
I'm using Linux 2.0.7 and pppd 2.2.0f. The modem server
on the other side is still running Linux 1.1.8.
Changing ppp's mru and mtu allowed transmission of files up to 10 kbyte
(thanks to Dietmar Braun).
Testing my site against an ppp server with newer software was succesfull.
The problem didn't occur (thanks to Dirk Weigenand).
Because I'm a little bit afraid that there is possibly an incompatibility
between different PPP/TCP implementations I've send a tcpdump to Eric Schenk.
If necessary, I'd to further testing/debugging.
