It is entirely possible that the SMC-Ultra has lost its mind
sometime recently. Do reset its configuration with EZSETUP
utility (from DOS, naturally), and its EEPROM should be sane
again. (My systems have suffered of that phenomena a few
times -- most difficulties have been on machines which mostly
run MSDOS, and only occasionally Linux..)
Oh yes, the identification from properly acting card has
"SMC Ultra" in its line, not "WD80x3" ...
...
