In the main menu there is a menu item setup. Then choose printer and here
you can enter the command which prints your file. It can even be a own
shell script.
In your case the shell script must use a2ps (Ascii to Postscript) to
convert your ascii files so that your printer can print it. a2ps is very
nice and has many options.
You write that shell script in that way that it also works as a filter so
that you can use it as input filter in your /etc/printcap. (Take a look
at the 'if' entry) It is not necessary to use apsfilter and /etc/printcap
is not so difficult to configure.
My expieriences with apsfilter are not so good because sometimes it
chooses the wrong way to print a file. I have a lot of gzipped raw
printer graphics files and some of them doesn't work properly.
And the most times I know what I am printing.
