Linux 1.3.x handles large routing tables. I'd be cautious about running a BGP4
backbone on it until someone has done it on a non critical site for 6 months.
Personally I'd buy a cisco for stuff like BGP4 simply because there are probably
a few hundred cisco BGP4 systems for every BSD/Linux box doing the job.
