Ummm...hmmmm..."all nodes on a given ethernet segment must have the same 
network address"...Ummm then I guess our setup isn't working and I'm not
sending this e-mail. Our setup:
  1. 4 Class C networks on one ethernet segment (building backbone)
  2. 2 T-1 Connections & 2 Cisco routers
  3. Less than 100 machines distributed across the 4 Class C's
  4. Routers handle routing from one Class C to another

Don't ask *why* we have it set up this way...its a legacy left over from
when the entire building was connected to a much larger LAN via a bridge
and *everyone* was on the same Class B network.

The 4 Class C's are *not* a contiguous block. Using unmanaged hubs, we
can put 4 machines with 4 different network addresses on the same hub. It
works fine, but can be a performance problem when communicating from
one Class C to another since the packets first go to the router on one
network, and then a bounced back down the same ehternet, but a different
Class C. Fortunately we don't need the 4 networks talking to each other...

Using linux, I can have one machine, with one interface card, sit and
listen on all 4 networks
