For an additional datapoint, I'm seeing this same thing on HP
Vectra 486/66XMs with their onboard AMD 79c970 PCnet Ethernet
controller (Lance driver) running 1.1.76.

It's a nuisance, but nothings busted (yet).

I sure would like to know what to do about it.
