I've got something like this going on, but I'm not subnetted, I have six
class C netnumbers, and I'm routing between two of them with the linux
box.

One thing to remember is that the 2500 series doesn't use rip by default
(it uses a cisco protocol, IGRP I think).

One problem I had with this was that even after I had it all set up my
ISP (The Office of Technical Services for the Texas Education Agency),
had to come in and do a few things to the router to cause it to push
packets destined for the interior network to the gateway machine.
(A big THANKS to the individual who suggested this might be my problem,
it works now).

My situation isn't exactly like yours, but I hope this info helps :)
