Hello all,
I have read the fantastic manual and I am still run out of options (at
least obvious ones). First, here is the scenario:
Internet Primary Secondary
LAN LAN(s)
/__________
\ | 15 i486DX50s 386/486 PCs
Cisco 2501 Linux 1.2.8/1.2.13 M$ WFWG 3.11
206.76.144.250 206.76.144.h M$ Wolverine TCP/IP
^ / /|\ 206.76.145.h
| / | /|\
Gateway/Fileserver / NIC 0 NIC 1
i486DX100 |/_ 206.76.144.5 206.76.145.3
Big Fast Drives, /|\ |
Lotsa RAM. | Interior Gateway |
Linux Kernal v1.2.8 | 486DX50 |
IP Forwarding, | 12 MB RAM |
Multicasting, ----- 24 Swap -------------
Firewalling Linux v1.2.13
(firewalling not configured). IP Forwarding,
206.76.144.3 Multicasting,
Firewalling
(firewalling not configured).
Sorry about the rotten diagram.
Anyway, we are using routed at both gateways, firewalling compiled in
(for future use) but not configured, and appropriate network routes are
established at both gateways. The Interior gateways' NIC (206.76.145.3)
is the default gateway for the WFWG machines on the 206.76.145.h net, and
the Fileserver/Gateway at 206.76.144.3 is the default route for the
machines on the 206.76.144.h net (including the interface for NIC 0 of
the interior gateway).
I can get out to the Internet just dandy (excepting certain problems
associated with an old copy of named) from the primary network; but the
WFWG machines cannot reach beyond the interior net. Need there be some
sort of network route on the gateway for the primary LAN to the network
206.76.145.h (the WFWG machines)?
I can ping all around our LAN (206.76.144.h) from these WFWG machines,
use Netscape to browse Local web site, etc. but no nada nuttin' gets out
(or in) for these M$ machines.
I realise of course that all such machines should be immediately
disassembled to expand linux boxes, but unfortunately I cannot convince
my bosses that this is in their best interest :)
ThankS for any help you folks may be in a position to provide!
-James
