I'm trying to set up an Internet Provider on a P5 166MHz with 32Mb
and 4.3Gb SCSI-II HD. I'm not connected to the Internet right now
becouse I want to make sure that my Linux is 100% ready to go, then I
will get a 64k line. But I'm with some troubles... there they go:
Even connected to my computer using high speeds (28,800+) the
DNS is t o o s l o w... I'm using the named that came with
Slackware 3.0. I can't use domain names like 'www.hw.com.br'
(they are on my /etc/hosts file). The remote computer must use IPs to
connect to the httpd, ftpd, and other daemons. The FTP shows to the
remote console that the connection to the port 21 has been made,
delay a little and disconnects the user from the FTP server.
I read all the HOW-TOs and set up all the configs. but it does not
work. Oh, by the way: I'm using dip (last release) as diplogin as
the user shell. ifconfig and route are just perfect. The remote
computer uses Windows95 and Microsoft Dial-Up utility with CSLIP
protocol.
PS: sorry for the english mistakes... ;)
