Hello,
I recently bought a simple NE2000 compatible NIC, PCI version.
The kernel recognizes the card, but there's no PCI-driver for it.
Instead I have to enable the ISA NE2000-card (ne.c) which says that it found
my card, because the PCI-system found it.
So: it works, but isn't this just a hack. I think I'm better of with a
kernel which supports my PCI-card directly. Now, only some of the more
expensive cards (3COM) are supported.
What about writing a kernel-driver (not by me, I can't program that much).
I think it's worth it, because many people have a NE2000-compatible card.
Ivo.
