It depends on the other machines, on if your addresses are subnetted etc.
If its stuff like windows boxes you need to set the default route on each
by hand.

Gated supports:
RIP, RIP-II, OSPF, HELLO, EGP, BGP4, IS-IS.

If you run a cisco proprietary protocol I guess you need a cisco or some
static routes sorting.
