Hi everyone. I am going to be running the following (if possible) on
our Novell/Ethernet system:
A Linux 3.0 Slackware server that uses Mail/News/WWW & A Novell 3.12
or 4.1 Server as well (2 different machines). I am wondering, since I
am on a Novell Backbone is there a way to disconnect from the
backbone of the school and allow the new Novell server to become the
main backbone (hence 2 different backbones: schools & ours
<library>)? The library server would be only accessed via
students/faculty/staff, but the Linux server will be linked to the
Internet via old backbone (trying to prevent an old Novell server
from getting too much Internet traffic upon it <old as in 486DX2/66
with 64 MB Ram allowing 250+ users on per day>).
Would the Samba software be good to use for this application? All
students would be using Windows for Workgroups 3.11 on their
terminals to login to (via IPX/NETX) to the Novell server. Then they
can do telnet (through windows TN3270 program) to the Linux server to
do news/e-mail/www editing.
Is this possible?
