Hi all,
with the newest kernel (1.3.72) the SMC Etherpower-card is not
correctly recognized:

[ ... ]
eth0: UNKNOWN at e400 (PCI bus 0, device 10), h/w address 00:00:c0:1d:b7:ce,
and requires IRQ12 (provided by PCI BIOS).
de4x5.c:v0.40 96/3/5 davies@wanton.lkg.dec.com
Partition check:
 sda: sda1 sda2 sda3
 sdb: sdb1 sdb2 sdb3
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly.
Adding Swap: 32124k swap-space
eth0: media is BNC.

whereas the kernel-side appears to be happy:

bash$ cat /proc/pci
PCI devices found:
[ ... ]
  Bus 0, device 10, function 0:
Ethernet controller: DEC DC21041 (rev 17).
Medium devsel. Fast back-to-back capable. IRQ 12.
	Master Capable. Latency=32.
      I/O at 0xe400.
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xfbf90000.
[ ... ]

and scanpci gives:

pci bus 0x0 cardnum 0x0a, vendor 0x1011 device 0x0014
 Digital DC21041 10Mb/s Ethernet Plus
  STATUS 0x0280 COMMAND 0x0007
  CLASS 0x02 0x00 0x00 REVISION 0x11
  BIST 0x00 HEADER 0x00 LATENCY 0x20 CACHE 0x00
  BASE0 0x0000e401 addr 0x0000e400 I/O
  BASE1 0xfbf90000 addr 0xfbf90000 MEM
  MAX_LAT 0x00 MIN_GNT 0x00 INT_PIN 0x01 INT_LINE 0x0c

It's only a cosmetical error; the driver itself works smooth (and
_fast_).
I could test a few things by myself if only I know where to look, so
if I can help you, let me know.

Apart from this, GOOD WORK !

Later
