I have a minimal (home) network consisting of a Linux PC and
a Macintosh. TCP/IP seems to run just fine, but when I try
netatalk-1.3.3, that is, AppleTalk, Linux spontaneously resets
and I'm back at
Loading..............
This has been the case with all kernels I've tried from 1.3.46
through 1.3.68.
My Ethernet card is an SMC EtherPower PCI one that the de4x5.c
driver identifies as a DE435 with the 21041 chip. I have also
tried tulip.c, the original EtherPower driver, but it won't
compile (all right, it compiles if I edit it a bit, but then
it crashes...).
Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? What is it that makes
TCP/IP succeed where AppleTalk fails?
Thank you in advance,
Sakari Aaltonen
