Hi,

Has anyone used those jumperless Ethernet cards which are configured
through some nifty software running on MS-DUH and only MS-DUH? Agreed
that the software is nifty and MS-DUH even more so ;-) , it's still a
pain to have to find a DOS machine to run the config software on, so I
was wondering if something similar could be written for Linux?

If it's already there, please send a pointer to the location. If not,
would someone be interested in collaborating in writing the software
for popular cards to run under Linux? I say ``collaborating'' since I
have no idea at all about hardware programming, so I'm looking at a
situation where we work together, make out the user interface and the
interface between the low-level and the user-level routines, and then
you code the hardware interface while I code the user interface. C/C++
are the languages of choice.

Or am I talking through my hat? Is it possible to do it at all in user
space? Will card vendors release the programming details without a
NDA? Seeking enlightenment...
