I have looked at gated a long time ago. GNU sed worked at that time for me,
and I think that GNU sed with the rx-functions from Linux libc should
work ok.

P.S.: GNU sed 3.0 and rx 1.0 is released, but it probably needs some time
until it can replace rx 0.7.
