Hello and a happy new year,

Over the year's end I upgraded my system from 1.3.30 (my last "stable"
hacker version) to 1.3.52; I can now boot either my old linux-1.3.30
kernel or the new linux-1.3.52. I upgraded to pppd-2.2.0d recently (built
under 1.3.52); and now experience the following problem (net tools base is
slackware-3.0):

I have a ppp connection to a unix machine. The ppp connection usually
works without further problems.
Now when I telnet into the remote unix machine, I get an immediate
response (with both kernel versions). The same happens when I do a
"rsh rmthost date" command. But when I do "rsh rmthost" (this is
effectively the same as doing a "rlogin rmthost"), then NOTHING happens: I
get no reply and no error message, rsh seems to hang. Netstat shows me
that it tries to build a rlogin connection.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

    Martin
