Hello, I've just joined the linux-net mailing list and was hoping
someone could help me with a problem. I'm running Slackware
Linux 1.2.13, and I cannot get my slip devices to work correctly.
I have the machine wwi.com setup as a dynamic slip server, and
callers can login without problem. From wwi.com I can ping
the slip device (slip150.wwi.com) without problem. However,
I *cannot* ping that device (or any other slip device) from
anywhere but my internal network. I'm using diplogin, and it
appears to be functioning, with the exception that it seems
to ignore the netmask I give it, and forces it to be all 255.
I suspect this is the problem, however I don't know for a fact,
and do not know how to correct it.
I am connected to my provider over a T1-Frame Relay circuit.
My provider has allocated a portion of his class C block to
me. My providers router does not seem to know how to get to my
slip devices. traceroute on my providers machine to my slip
device, stalls at the router. traceroute to static hosts on
my internal network from my providers machine works fine.
I have a dump of my provider's router if anyone wants to see it,
I don't have any experience with routers. As far as I know,
everything is setup correctly on my side. For the record,
I have root priveledges on my providers machine, as well
as router passwords, etc. I can make any changes that need to
be made, I just need to know what to do. Thank you for any
help!
