This worked for me:
NT box (grunge) shares \\GRUNGE\files with read permission for everyone.
muserfs -a smbfs /ftp/pub grunge files -Uusername -Ppassword
Leaving out the '-a' caused it to just sit there. The '-a' option is ok
if you are root as you can umount it afterwards, not so good if you are a
normal user.
Now I still have a couple of problems, long filenames are being mangles
into 8.3 format and all the directories only have read access for
non-owners. I needs execute so people can cd into them. smbclient from the
samba suite doesn't mangle the names so I suspect it is something the SMB
protocol used by smbfs is enabling (or not disabling). I know the
permission are ok on the NT side as my OS/2 client can cd anywhere it
likes.
I've emailed the author of smbfs, hopefully he can send me a fix soon.
If I can't get smbfs to do what I need then I might try ftpfs from
userfs-0.8.1. Has anyone been able to get userfs-0.8.1 to build under
1.1.95? genser bombs out badly on some of the header files and I can't see
anything wrong.
Regards,
Trevor
