Hi,
v3.40.0 of Generic NQS, a freely-available version of the Network Queueing
System, is now available, in BETA form, from :
ftp://ftp.shef.ac.uk/uni/projects/nqs/latest/Generic-NQS-PRE-RELEASE.tar.gz
Our site is mirrored by suniste.unc.edu, where it will be available from
ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/Network/distrib/nqs/latest/
Generic-NQS-PRE-RELEASE.tar.gz
A brief changelog for recent versions is included below. The main thing to
note for Linux users is that Linux/ELF is now supported from this release
onwards. This release was tested with libc-5.1.4, and gcc-2.7.0.
Although this release should work with the a.out C library, this
configuration will not be supported from now on by us (although patches
are always welcome).
More information (including detailed ChangeLogs, bug lists, problem
reporting, mailing list archives, etc etc) can be found from
http://www.shef.ac.uk/uni/projects/nqs/

The Network Queueing System (NQS) is the de facto standard batch
processing system for UNIX, with freely available versions available from
CERN, and the University of Sheffield, and commercial versions available
from vendors such as Cray and Sterling Software.
Our version, Generic NQS, is the successor to the popular Monsanto-NQS
release. It is widely used within UK Academia, and around the world.
There is support for a number of operating systems :
AIX, Fujitsu, HPUX, IRIX 4,5,6, Linux, Linux/ELF, NCR, OSF/1, Solaris,
SunOS, ULTRIX
Generic NQS is derived from the original COSMIC NQS, by NASA, and is fully
interoperable (at the networking level) with other versions of NQS.
Generic NQS is released under version 1 of the FSF's GPL.
There are a number of mailing lists available for this product - see the
WWW URL above for further details.
Regards,
Stu
